The Waikato River.

In New zealand we have many long rivers like the clutha river, whanganui and many more.
But the waikato river is the longest river in New zealand, running through the north island. The name Waikato comes from the Māori language, it means flowing water. Waikato River flowed from Lake Huka (the ancient lake) in the centre of the North Island.

  1. I am interested in how you came to be learning about this Mya. On Monday I was in the South Island at a place called Balclutha which sits along the Clutha river. It is very big. It has a wonderful old bridge spanning it in Balclutha town.

The Waikato River is an extremely water as it also supplies water to Auckland for drinking. I was very lucky to live in Hamilton for some years and there were quite a few celebrations and the River was quite important to the town. Have you ever been to Hamilton? There are seven bridges that are quite important and different. There are some special things there.
