Future Aspirations

On the 26th of november we had special guests attend our intermediate. The people who came were Andrew Patterson, Anthony Samuels, Paula Fakalata and Amelia Nufe.

Anthony Samuels speech was about “To miharo hoki” that means “You are awesome” He was telling us about his past when he was producing What now, he was doing that job for a very long time! Mr Samuels also said to believe that you are awesome so you can be awesome and never let your past defeat you future.

Paula Fakalata was talking about how people laugh when he says his name because his name sounds like “Ebola”. When he was younger his teachers would always mispronounce his name. He asked us “which story do you want hear, the story where I almost died or the story where I almost made it.” “THE STORY WHERE YOU ALMOST DIED!!!” shouted everyone. He then told us about a story where he almost drowned.

Amelia nufe’s dream is to have her own clothing line. When she was younger people would always judge her because her brothers are in gangs, they would always think that she’ll follow their tracks and drop out. Amelia is now in university studying fashion, in her class she gets assignments to design clothes for events.

Friends

Nothings more important than friends, right? Friends are awesome because you can always count on them through the hard times because they can always cheer you up and they can give you advice about everything!

Friendship is when two or more people start socialising, playing and doing things together. Its very special because they’ll always be right beside you through thick and thin. There will be some arguments but in the end good friends always make up! You can also learn more about their culture (that’s if they’re a different culture).

Friendship is important because they’ll always back you up if you’re in trouble, they’ll always cheer you up in your darkest moments and they will always keep your secrets safe. Its very important to grow up with friends because you can always count on them to help you with things, like advice and many other things!

You can make good friends by treating someone with respect. You can also request for them to play with you at playtime. When they’re sad have enough courage to cheer them up by telling jokes!

Lydia ko

Bo-Gyung Lydia Ko is a 17 year old professional kiwi golfer. She was born in seoul, south korea on the 24th of april 1997. Lydia has been the top ranked women amateur golfer in the world for 130 weeks. She began playing golf at the age of 5 when her mother took her into a pro shop at the pupuke golf club. At the age of 7 she competed in the New Zealand national amateur championships.

Lydia became the youngest person to ever win a professional golf tour event, when she announced she was turning professional on 23 october 2013. In august 2013 she was the only amareur to win two LPGA tour events. She was named as one of times magazine’s 100 most influential people

Netbook reflection.

This year I have learned a lot of cool stuff on my netbook like Maths, reading, writing etc.. you can say I can do anything on my netbook!... But no I cant!

Most of the things I learned was from my netbook, but also from my teachers. I recently learned Inverse from mr barks. Inverse a opposite strategy. I cant explain it very well because I just learned it! So what im saying is that if you have a ½ you do the opposite which is 2/1. That is all I remember.

The sites I go on to learn is Maths whizz, Xtramath and kiwi kids news. Maths whizz is a site that we go on to learn fractions, decimals and other things. Xtramath is for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Kiwi kids news if filled with news all around new zealand.

I love my netbook because:

We dont need to worry about sore hands and paper.

We can learn anything online.

We can also play games!

We can listen to music.

Things i think need to change:

A bigger screen

Better sound quality

Longer battery life

and space between the keys of the keyboard.

My highlights of the year

The year 8 camp because they left school and I was in room 19, it was really fun in room 19. We were painting, making movies and cooking truffles. The year 7s also got to go to action world on friday.

My other highlight of this year was improving my math strategies. When I was in math club I have learned a lot of strategies, decimals and fractions. The best part of math club was making things out of styrofoam, first we would cut them in half or in quarters and then we paint them.

My last favorite highlight was going to tech every tuesday, because we get to cook, make things out of wood and do art. But we have to walk to tamaki college to do all that! I mostly like it because it is fun and because we don't do work.

Action World.

On Friday the 6th of December we (the year 7 kids) went to action world (action world is in Henderson). But we had to meet in the street for the roll, I came late because I was looking for everyone but they were gone! Until I saw someone go into room 20 I went in there. When I went inside everyone was inside staring at me. My heart was pumping really hard when I entered. But everything went well after that moment.

Finally we were allowed to go outside and wait for the bus, I think the bus took half an hour to arrive. I was so glad when it arrived. We entered the bus and I sat with Dhara at the back, And Javana and Yixin were behind us. It was really noisy at the back because of the boys were listening music on their speaker. The bus trip took a really long time to get their.

We’re here! Finally! I was soo happy to see action world, it was filled with blow up platforms and some trampolines. When the workers introduced them to us we were split into groups of our class, for example people in room 22 has to be in 1 group.

Our first activity we did was the crazy ladder. I thought it would be easy to go up that ladder but it was very tricky because every time you pass the 6th step it wiggles and flips, which causes you to fall. Our second activity was the jump n slide, this was my favourite activity. I only went on the jumping part but not the slide because I was too scared!  Our third activity was the free climb, Okay this one was my least favourite one because I couldn't even make the first rock! And now the last activity we did was the jungle swings! I was too scared to go on because I thought it was really high, but it wasn't…

After we went on those activities we get to have free time. Most of the time I was recording people, but I had 1 turn on the jump n slide. When I was on the jumping part I was scared because It was very high, but then I decided to jump. When I landed I was stuck in the air pillow.

When we heard the horn we went to the benches and sat down to put on our shoes, miss samuels gave us 1 gummy worm. We went to the bus to go back to school, It took longer than the first trip! But we saw two puppies playing in long grass near the road. Most of the people were sleeping. FInally we were at school eating and playing at lunch time.

Lorde

Lorde aka Ella Maria Lani Yelich-O'Connor is new zealand singer and songwriter. Her song royals was the number 1 hit on the top charts of USA,she even passed Miley Cyrus wrecking ball and Katy Perrys Roar! Oh and did I mention shes 17? Well she just turned 17 last week, her first album was when she was 16. So she went a long way in 1 year! My favourite song is “The love club” From her album The love club.

She has her own unique style, she has a wicked personality and she has amazing hair. I should get some tips! She is my most favorite kiwi singer and i would love to go to a concert of hers. :]

Camp Presentation

Christmas!

Hi you might have already known that Christmas is coming! 12 more days untill Christmas, what do you like about Christmas? I like the presents and the food. My favourite dessert is mousse and trifle. Its really good for Christmas. And dinner is turkey with bacon strips and some mash potato. And to top it off its really nice is you drink grape sparkling juice.

The presents are good if you get what you asked for. Remember Christmas isn't about presents its about   Jesus's birth and its also about having fun with your family.

Netbook Reflection 2012

This year has been awesome because we use our netbooks for everything. Well not everything! On our netbooks we go onto Google apps, like Docs, Presentations and spreadsheets and other sites like Xtramath, Maths whizz and studyladder. Xtramath is a maths program it helps you with maths. Maths whizz is sort of the same thing but maths whizz give you time to think, studyladder is a reading and maths program.

What I love about my netbook is that it helps you with your spelling and if you don't know about something you can easily search it up! You can learn a lot of things that you don't know about too. It is way better than pencils and books! I would pick a netbook than books and pencils because if you're writing with a pencil it hurts your hand if you write for a very long time. A netbook is a really good size too, so it can easily fit in your bag.

What I dislike about my netbook is if the internet is really slow! And you know what happens if the internet is slow, it starts to go really slow and it starts to freeze and then the sign called kill pages pop up! I would also ask for my netbook to turn on faster because it takes a lot of time. It is easy to break because the hinges are too weak. It will also be better if the sound and camera were better quality.

I would like to thank Mr and Mrs burt, Miss Telea, my parents for paying for my netbook and the people who made this happen. I can’t wait until next year so I can continue to use my netbook for learning.

My Funny moment at camp

Do you think Karma is real? I do! I remember karma happened to me at camp. It all started when kawau (group) went sailing. I got into the boat and sailed off. When I was sailing I saw Isaiah crash into the wharf! It was REALLY funny!

That must of been embarrassing! Peter went up to him in his kayak and pushed him off to sail. I laughed while saying “ Haha you crashed!” Then I started turning around I started shouting “What's happening! why am I turning around!!!” It was a freaking out moment.

I started heading the right direction and soon got to the end. I came last... I was ashamed... I had fun anyways! I am never ever doing that again!

Finn and Jake

Adventure time is a great t.v show! It's about Finn and Jake. Finn is a human and Jake is a dog! OK Jake is a yellow dog who doesn't concentrate on anything. Well he is a very helpful to Finn. They do everything together. Finn is a 13 year old human. Him and Jake help PB (Princess Bubblegum). Did you know Jake the dog is 28 years old?!

Both of them take care of Ooo because they are heroes! they only help people that are really in danger. Ooo is the name of the land, the candy kingdom is made out candy I mean seriously everything in the candy kingdom is made out of candy! Even the people!! Do you think Jake and Finn have a hard job? And did you also know Jake has stretchy powers! he can turn into anything!

Lumpy space princess.

Hi there have you ever watched Adventure time before? If you have that's great because this is a story all about LSP! OK never EVER make Lumpy space princess angry ok because lumpy people always get angry! I mean always, day and night, 24/7. Lumpy space princess left lumpy space because she is sick of her parents!

Now she's in the forest eating a can of beans once a week! Finn and Jake are friends with her! She is also best friends with Princess Bubblegum, she has bubblegum for hair and she's all pink. Lumpy space princess can easily cry every time she's also dramatic!

Happy Birthday to me!

Hi everyone! Guess what day this is?.... Its my birthday! Every time on the 14th of November its my birthday,  I love birthdays because you can do anything you want on that day.  My favourite part is the gifts because you can get anything you want! Do you like gifts?... Well obviously I do!

At every birthday you always have to have a cake! My favourite cake is chocolate cake! I really love chocolate so its pretty obvious I want a chocolate cake for my birthday!

Anger Problems

Hi everyone guess what I'm going to talk about....If you guessed anger problems you're right! Do you know what I'm always angry about? An empty plate when I wake up early in the morning! I know I'm too old for someone to cook my food but sometimes people want a break from cooking in the morning! I also get angry when my internet is very slow, you know what I mean?

Every time I play a game on the internet I always lose at the end! But it sort of an anger moment but not that much BUT if I lose more than 5 times that's when I flip the table! I know I know I got ultimate problems with stuff but I'm NOT the only one!

Diamonds!

Do you love diamonds?....... Well I do! I hope you like diamonds because if you don't... Oh who am I
kidding you'll love diamonds when you read this! What I love about diamonds is that they are really beautiful. They are also expensive I think it takes a very long time to look for it.
A diamond is one of the birthstones. That means if you were born on April your birthstone is a diamond!

 Did you even know that a small diamond on a gold ring is really expensive!! Some people make diamonds out of glass! because they look the same but to tell a diamond is real you have to bang it on something hard a few times. If it breaks its fake but if it doesn't its real!
